The ReStore sells donated furniture, appliances, building materials and home goods at 50–75% off retail. Every purchase — and every donation — directly funds new Habitat homes in Abilene.
What We Do
Two pillars of our work in Abilene: partnering with families to build affordable homes, and turning donated goods into more homes.
We partner with hardworking local families who need a hand up — not a handout. Families invest sweat equity into their home and the homes of their neighbors, then purchase the finished home with an affordable, no-interest mortgage.
Every partner family begins with Homeowner College, where they learn financial literacy, home maintenance, and community engagement before mortgage pre-qualification.
After pre-qualification, construction begins. Each family contributes 250–400 hours of sweat equity alongside volunteers — building skills, friendships, and ownership.
